WHALE & DOLPHIN WATCHING
The Azores are considered one of the best Whale Watching spots in the world for. Here, there have been registered 28 species of whales and dolphins on the past years (about 1/3 of the known cetacean’s species worldwide). Aiming for a responsible Whale Watching, we combine the whale and dolphin spotter, the so called “Vigia” (person who searches for whales and dolphins, using binoculars with long range capability, from a high ground point and transmitting this information to our boats via radio), with our expertise on finding cetaceans from the boat and keeping them close in a safe and non-threatening way, according to the Azorean conduct code to approach cetaceans. These practices allow us to achieve success rates close to 99% in our sightings throughout the year.
OUR SIGHTING GUARANTEE
In our Whale & Dolphin Watching activity, we cannot predict if it will be only whales, only dolphins or both on a single tour, since we work with wild animals, and their behavior is unpredictable. However, we guarantee to sight at least one whale or dolphin species listed for the Azores. If no whales and no dolphins species are sighted during the tour, the customer will have the possibility of another free tour, or in case of unavailability due to weather conditions, a full refund.
RESPONSIBLE WHALE & DOLPHIN WATCHING
We daily commit ourselves for a responsible conduct when approaching whales and dolphins that visit or reside in the Azores, in our Whale & Dolphin Watching activity. Our participation in Research and Environmental Education with the local community and tourism allows us to obtain and disseminate important information about them in their natural habitat, contributing for what we believe is the right path for their conservation.
